Our Social Security disability law firm understands the impact physical injuries, health issues, and mental illnesses can have on a person’s ability to properly care for themselves and others. We have been providing much-needed assistance for people with disabilities throughout Dallas and the surrounding areas for over 20 years.

Our firm is committed to helping those in need, and we are proud to offer The Law Offices of Coats & Todd Overcoming Disability Scholarship. This $2,500 scholarship is available to college students who are managing a disability while attending school. Our award is offered twice a year, and scholarship winners can use the amount they receive for any expenses related to their college education.

Eligible college students across the country are encouraged to submit their materials in the application at the bottom of this page.

Eligibility Criteria

As a legal team that has devoted our services to matters related to Social Security disability throughout our many years of practice, we are honored to provide help to those who are facing adversity. Each semester, we will be offering scholarships to college students with physical or psychological disabilities that affect their ability to work.

Additionally, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Will be attending an accredited college or university for the Fall 2023 semester
  • Will be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program when the award is received
  • Is at least 17 years of age upon submitting their application
  • Is a citizen or permanent resident of the United States

To apply for the scholarship, complete and submit the digital application at the bottom of this page. When you are ready to apply, please prepare the following materials:

  • Contact information
  • Proof of enrollment
  • Headshot
  • A high-quality video response to the prompt below

Video Prompt

Why do you think it is important for people with disabilities to have access to quality education? How do you think your disability has affected your life choices?

The recommended length of your video response is 3-5 minutes. A video must be submitted as a URL (NOT a movie file or other attachment).

Review Guidelines

Our team will work diligently to review each application that is submitted. Applications that adhere to the submission instructions will be given priority. We will also consider whether each applicant meets the requirements detailed above. The strength of each applicant's video submission will be judged based on the following factors:

  • The video is of high quality and demonstrates the student's personality
  • The video answers the prompt completely and clearly
  • The video is within the suggested length

Our award recipient will be notified by email on or before May 15, 2023. The winner will be announced on our website and social media.
