VA Aid and Attendance Benefits

VA Aid and Attendance Benefits

If you are a Veteran or survivor eligible for VA pension, you may be eligible for additional benefits.

Aid and Attendance is increased monthly pension available for those who:

- Require aid of another person to perform daily personal functions like bathing, feeding, dressing, etc

- Have VA disabilities that require them to stay in bed

- Reside in a nursing home due to mental or physical impairments

- Have limited eyesight corrected to 5/200 in both eyes or where concentric contraction of the visual field is limited to 5 degrees.

Homebound benefits increase monthly pension when the Veteran is substantially confined to the immediate premises due to disability.

Sometimes, this can mean the difference in hundreds of dollars worth of benefits, as it can provide up to $1,758 per month for a single veteran or $2,085 per month for a couple. As with VA pension, the Veteran must have countable income below $12,465 a year (or $16,324 a year if married). A physician's statement is strongly recommended to assist with this claim, as certain medical requirements must be fulfilled.
