Dire Need Claims

To qualify for prompt consideration of your disability claim, you must show proof of extraordinary circumstances:

  • Terminal disease
  • Homeless
  • Foreclosure or eviction proceedings
  • Denial of coverage for medically necessary surgery
  • Other dire need

Our attorneys can step in at all stages of the Social Security process. If you have not yet applied for SSDI/SSI, we will prepare your claim and the emergency request. If your initial claim was turned down, we will seek "fast track" Reconsideration. If you were denied on Reconsideration, we can request an expedited hearing before an administrative law judge (ALJ). In some cases, the judge may review your case and issue a decision without a hearing.

It typically takes four months for Reconsideration and eight months or more to get a disability hearing. If your dire need request is granted, the Social Security Administration or judge is supposed to rule on your case within 30 days.

You must still meet the same criteria as all those people waiting behind you. Our lawyers know the system and what documentation Social Security needs to approve your benefits. We work fast to get your medical records and any additional information from your doctors.

Contact our Richardson, Texas office to discuss an expedited claim or hearing. If you do not qualify for dire need, we can point you to free medical care and financial help to get you by while we continue to pursue your benefits.
