New rules for Veterans with PTSD

If you are a Vietnam-era Veteran, you may be eligible for an upgrade in VA disability benefits that you were previously denied. The Defense Department announced Wednesday that they are offering new rules to address those with a less than honorable discharge who suffer with post traumatic stress disorder. Experts report that the disorder may have contributed to the misconduct by veterans who were released from the military and stripped of their benefits.

Under the new rules, Veterans must show that they had PTSD symptoms at the time of the misconduct. Further, they must show that the PTSD was related to their less than honorable discharge. The new rules could have a huge impact on their ability to access education, disability, health care and housing benefits.
